MEET AMANDA BROWN

CHILDREN'S MINISTRY

Tell us a little about you and your family:

I am a Fayetteville, Arkansas native. My mom, dad, and brother all live in northwest Arkansas. I also have a sister-in-law who is from Venezuela. My husband James (aka J.R.) and I met while attending college, at Harps Store on Crossover Road. I have known J.R. since I was 18 years old. We just celebrated our 15th wedding anniversary. God has blessed us with four children: Joel age 13, Henry age 11, Maeve age 4, and Christian age 2. I feel very blessed to have such a large family, and I truly enjoy being a mother and a wife.

Although it's hard to pick just one, what is your "verse to live by":

“Honor and majesty are before Him; strength and gladness are in His place.” - 1 Corinthians 16:27

What are your favorite things/hobbies to do in your free time?

My favorite things to do always involve sunshine and a body of water, whether it be a lake, river, pool, or ocean. I enjoy time in nature in the form of camping, gardening, and hiking. I also showed horses as a teenager, and I still love to ride any chance I get.

Tell us a little about your past roles, education, or anything else you'd like us to know:

Before I was blessed to serve the children's ministry at Emmanuel Lutheran, I enjoyed being a homemaker for four plus years. Prior to that I worked as a registered nurse in several different fields including the operating room, emergency room, medical surgical unit, and post anesthesia care unit. I have a bachelor’s degree in nursing from the University of Arkansas.

What is one thing that people might be surprised to learn about you?

I can carry on a conversation in Spanish. I get to practice some with my sister-in-law. She laughs at my Spanish and I make fun of her English.

What is your favorite thing about Emmanuel Lutheran Church?

Halleluia that our God is the same yesterday, today, and forever. The bible is the final revelation of the will of God to man, and it is the basis of our beliefs. Our church and its leadership, pastor and laity, do a really good job to not deviate from the supernaturally inspired word of God. God's presence is palpable in our worship and our church family.
