MEET JEFF CARPENTER
PASTOR
Tell us a little about you and your family:
Nanette and I have been married for 32 years and have three sons, Jeffery, Joshua, and Jacob. God has blessed us in that all 3-live close to home. Travel agent Nanette. Pepsi man Jeffery. Firefighter Joshua. Electrician Jacob. As of now, our grandchildren come in the form of large puppy dogs.
Although it's hard to pick just one, what is your "verse to live by":
"For the Son of Man came to seek and save the lost." - Luke 19:10
What are your favorite things/hobbies to do in your free time?
I enjoy lake time with Nanette, the boys and whoever happens to show up with them on Sunday afternoons. Rocky Mountain Elk hunts. Cycling. Hiking. Watching the Tour De France.
Tell us a little about your past roles, education, or anything else you'd like us to know:
I graduated in 1990 from the University of Arizona where I received a degree in accounting. I attended seminary at Lutheran Seminary Program of the Southwest, Austin, TX. I was a pastor at two-point parish: Olsburg - Walsburg Lutheran, north of Manhattan, KS, and a team Pastor at Bethany Lutheran, Fredericksburg, TX. I was also an associate Pastor at St. John Lutheran, Boerne, TX.
What is one thing that people might be surprised to learn about you?
I was born in the country of Panama and was terrified of the cold and snow when the family returned to the states. I’m still not a fan of dark - cold winter.
What is your favorite thing about Emmanuel Lutheran Church?
First: We experience the beauty and presence of God’s Holy Spirit in this place and among this people. Second: The people! Because of the people, Emmanuel Lutheran Church feels like home for about everyone who shares time with us. Our small and growing congregation is making a big, beautiful difference in this community and world. I am extravagantly blessed to serve with this congregation!
